The Land Back Story
About
Many church leaders desire to begin walking the path of reconciliation, or to deepen their journey—but feel unsure where to begin, afraid of saying the wrong thing, or uncertain about how faith and Indigenous teachings can coexist.
Land Back Ministries offers guidance rooted in Biblical understanding and an Indigenous worldview. The Land Back Blog unpacks Indigenous worldviews that are often misunderstood by the faith community and looks at how their application aligns with Christ's teachings. Our coaching model centres relationship, humility, and healing—so churches can move beyond fear and into meaningful understanding.

One Voice of Many
Land Back Ministries teaches from an Indigenous perspective on reconciliation and relational living. These teachings are offered to support a Christian understanding of reconciliation and do not replace the voices, authority, or sovereignty of Indigenous nations.
I do not speak for all Indigenous peoples, nor do I ask others to abandon their theological framework. Instead, I seek to build respectful bridges that honour God and the diverse teachings of Indigenous communities. Every Indigenous nation has its own culture, language, stories, and worldview, and these differences should be respected when engaging in reconciliation work.
Why Land Back?
The name often raises questions, especially in Christian spaces where people often associate it only with political land return. But for Indigenous peoples, “land back” is not primarily about property — it is about relationship.
In Indigenous worldviews, land is not an object we own. It is a living gift of God. Its design holds incredible purpose.
To Indigenous Nations, “land back” means:
-
returning to right relationship with Creation
-
honouring our responsibilities to care for what God made
-
restoring connections that were harmed through colonization
-
learning to walk gently, humbly, and gratefully on the earth
Land Back Ministries invites Christians into this same relationship — a return to the biblical truth that the land belongs to God (Psalm 24:1), and we are called to steward it with love, justice, and humility.
This ministry isn’t about political controversy.
It is about spiritual restoration.
It is about returning to the posture God intended — people rooted in gratitude for Creation, guided by Indigenous wisdom, and shaped by the love of Christ.
Land Back Ministries exists to help Christians rediscover that sacred relationship, and to walk the path of reconciliation with understanding, gentleness, and a heart for healing.
